Help Make An Impact In Your Community

Whether you’re looking for a one-time or ongoing volunteer opportunity for yourself, a group, or your kid(s), we have a variety of ways to help.

Thursday Food Pantry Distribution Volunteers

Volunteers are needed on Thursdays during our food pantry distribution. Two shifts are available: 3:15-5:30pm and 5:15-8:15pm. This volunteer opportunity works directly with customers helping them shop through the pantry, load vehicles, and set up/clean up. Volunteers must be comfortable working with customers, training provided when you arrive. Volunteers must be 6th grade and up, adults welcome. Sign up required.

Food Rescue Drivers

Volunteers are needed to serve 2-3 hours weekly (same day/time each weekday morning) to pick up food donations from assigned retailers and deliver them to St. Cletus Food Pantry or other area food pantry partners. Volunteers must be at least 25 years old, have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and ability to lift 25 lbs. Training and vehicle provided. Substitute drivers also needed.

Restocking

Thursdays from 11:30-1:00 volunteers help check dates, sort, organize, and put donations on the shelves.  Volunteers are also needed on a “standby” basis to help with large food drives. If you’re interested in being added to the list, would like to sign up, or have questions, please reach out.

Home Delivery

Drivers:
Volunteers are needed to drive deliveries to homes within Lyons Township. 2-3 times/month, Thursday afternoons. Must be comfortable driving the pantry vehicle. Training provided. If you're interested in learning more or have questions, please reach out. Subs also needed.

Outreach:
 Help call client, take and fulfill their grocery orders. Weekly commitment on Thursdays from 12:00-2:00pm.

Garden Team

Do you have a green thumb? Enjoy working outside? Volunteers are needed for our Garden Team to help support our onsite garden. Volunteers are needed from May-October to help prepare the beds, plant, water, pull weeds, and harvest produce. Days and times vary.

Outreach Events

Help represent the pantry at area community events. This is a great way to connect with our neighbors to let them know we are here if they need services, want to volunteer or donate to the pantry.

Food Drive

Organize your family, neighborhood, group, or business for a food drive! Reach out to schedule a date and learn of our most needed items or share our Amazon Wish List and deliver groceries directly to the pantry.

GCFD

We are a member organization of the Greater Chicago Food Depository and receive food deliveries and support from them. Volunteers help do various tasks at GCFD in Chicago, such as sorting donations, bagging bulk items, and more. Check out the website to learn more.
